Competition Robotics

Middle school students in grades 6–8 use LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Prime robots to design, build, and program robots to complete specific challenges. Students learn to code using both block-based coding and Python, helping them build real-world technology skills. Throughout the season, students work as a team to follow the engineering design process—planning, building, testing, and improving their robot. They problem-solve together, make adjustments, and learn from trial and error.

From creating robotic arms to delivering objects to testing speed and movement, students are challenged to think critically and creatively. The season ends with exciting competitions where teams face off against other schools and groups in their district or state. Teams are restricted to 9 students, so spots are limited. Signup is required to secure a place on the team.

Not Just Coding

This class isn't just going to teach students coding know-how. We will dig deep into the science behind the maneuvers the robot takes, study Newton's Laws of Motion and gain a new understanding of the biomechanics of movement.
